What is Micro Cement?
Micro cement is a thin, flexible cement-based coating applied straight over existing surfaces - benchtops, floors, walls, even furniture - without the need to demolish or replace what's underneath.
It's popular for its seamless, joint-free finish and its versatility. Because it's applied in thin layers (usually just a few millimetres), micro cement can go over tile, concrete, timber and other stable substrates, making it a fast way to transform a surface without a full renovation or major structural work.
Properly sealed, micro cement is highly durable and water-resistant, which is why it's a popular choice in kitchens, bathrooms and other high-traffic areas. It's also low-maintenance once cured - no grout lines to clean, no joints to fail over time.
Micro cement can be tinted to a wide range of colours and finished in different ways depending on the tools and technique used, from a raw, industrial look through to a soft, smooth, almost polished finish. The material itself is forgiving to work with once you understand the layering and timing, which is part of what makes it accessible to learn in a single day - but getting a consistent, professional result still comes down to technique, and that's what this course is built around.
